Five Spectrum NY1 anchors are leaving the news station after settling a gender and age discrimination lawsuit.
As The Wrap reports, Roma Torre, Kristen Shaughnessy, Jeanine Ramirez, Vivian Lee and Amanda Farinacci accused NY1 and its parent company Charter Communications last year of discriminating against older women and favoring younger, less experienced reporters and anchors.
The group of journalists said in a joint statement on Thursday that it had reached an agreement, the terms of which they said would be confidential.
“We are pleased to announce that we have reached a confidential resolution of our case against Charter / NY1. After a long dialogue with NY1, we believe that it is in everyone’s interest – ours, NY1 and our viewers – that this dispute be resolved and we mutually agree to separate, ”said the group.
“We want to thank everyone who supported us during those times – know that each person’s support has made a real difference.”
A Spectrum Networks spokesman said in a statement: “We are pleased to announce that we have reached a confidential resolution of the case filed by Roma Torre, Kristen Shaughnessy, Jeanine Ramirez, Vivian Lee and Amanda Farinacci and, as a result, we mutually agree to separate ways. We want to thank them for their years of dedicated service reporting the news to New Yorkers and we wish them well in their future endeavors. ”
