The first snowfall of 2021 is spreading across the Midwest, bringing widespread snow and strong winds.

Blizzard warnings are high where blown snow and strong winds of over 35 mph can cause white conditions throughout the day. Traveling will be dangerous, if not impossible.

Strong wind warnings extend south over a wide strip of central and southern plains.

These winds and drought conditions increased the fire hazard, especially for parts of Colorado and Texas.

The storm will move east tomorrow and weaken with rain and snow to Ohio and Tennessee Valley.

A second storm will form over the Middle Atlantic and move to the Northeast on Saturday, bringing heavy rain and snow across the North, especially at higher elevations.

Next week, there will be the first big arctic air wave of the season, which will not only bring cold temperatures, but more chances for significant storms and wintry weather.
