Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker arrives this fall to end the MMO story

The next expansion of Final Fantasy 14 is called Endwalker, and is coming this fall. Revealed during a live broadcast last night, the expansion to the long-running MMO will also end its story by sending players to the moon. The teaser trailer makes me want to play a game I’ve never played before.

Seriously, take a look at this trailer. I don’t know what many things mean to him, but I can say that they it is significant. This is giving me secondhand hype.

Final Fantasy 14 has been highly praised for its history in recent years, which has expanded since The Realm Reborn was released in 2013. Where most of the game’s expansions continued the story with a significant new chapter, and then ended this chapter on a handful of subsequent updates, Endwalker is wrapping up the whole story when it launches in the fall with the 6.0 update. Update 6.1 will start a new story.

The Endwalker will raise the level limit from 80 to 90, add new areas, including dungeons, residential districts and a high-difficulty attack, and add several new jobs, the class equivalent of FF14. One such work, a healing role called Sage, was revealed during the ad flow.

Sage can heal and protect teammates with protective barriers, but also deals damage with four levitating blades and magic spells. You will need to have a job already leveled to 70 before trying Sage.

Before the release of Endwalker, patch 5.5 will be released on April 13 to fill the gap in the latest expansion, Shadowbringers.

There are a few more details about the Endwalker expansion on its teaser site, or you can watch the full stream of ads below. More details will come at the Final Fantasy Digital Fan Fest, scheduled for May 15-16. We sent Brendy to the fan fest in 2018. We also spoke with some of the best interior designers in the game last year.
