Last November, Nintendo’s F-Zero series completed 30 years. Although there are no signs that he is coming back anytime soon, if he does, one guy who would be happy to help is Toshihiro Nagoshi from Sega.

Nagoshi is known for producing the Yakuza series today, but in 2003, he arguably worked on best entry into the F-Zero series – F-Zero GX for the Nintendo GameCube from Sega’s Amusement Vision.

Speaking to Red Bull France at the end of last year, Nagoshi said he would be open to work on the series again if given the opportunity. As unlikely as it is, if it were to happen, it would have to be a “challenging” game – like Mario Kart is already the “fun and accessible” pilot in the Nintendo library.

“Mmm… Putting aside the chances of this happening, I must admit that I have a lot of affection for the F-Zero GX. If the opportunity were to present itself, I would not care. And in that case, I would like to make it a challenging game. I believe that if Nintendo just wants a racing game that is ‘fun and affordable’, they already have Mario Kart for that purpose. “

The last F-Zero game released was the Game Boy Advance 2004 title only in Japan, F-Zero Climax. Since then, the series has resurfaced in games like Nintendo Land and Mario Kart 8 as DLC. Captain Falcon is still one of the top fighters in the Super Smash Bros. list too.
