Ex-Michigan Wolverines QB Dylan McCaffrey moving to northern Colorado

Former Michigan quarterback Dylan McCaffrey is moving to northern Colorado, where he will have a chance to play for his father, Ed McCaffrey.

Dylan had been an ESPN 300 recruit in the 2017 class, but never managed to get his initial job in Michigan. He only tried 15 passes in 2018 and broke his collarbone which shortened his season. He was a backup of Shea Patterson in 2019.

McCaffrey failed to start his career in Michigan and chose to leave the 2020 season before it started.

Old McCaffrey became the head coach of the Bears in December 2019, but he still hasn’t coached a game for northern Colorado because Big Sky changed its season to spring due to COVID-19.

Northern Colorado recently announced that it will not participate in the spring season and Big Sky championship, but will instead follow a modified non-conference schedule in late spring.

Ed will add his son to the list with the remaining two years of eligibility; and since Dylan is a transfer graduate, he can play immediately.

McCaffrey is the brother of former Nebraska quarterback Luke McCaffrey and Carolina Panthers star Christian McCaffrey.

Michigan still has quarterbacks Cade McNamara and Joe Milton on the list, and the team also added ESPN 300 quarterback JJ McCarthy in this 2021 class. McCarthy enrolled early in Michigan and was the recruit in 25th overall, as well as the quarterback No. 2 in the class.
