Emily Ratajkowski denies having received lip injections during the pregnancy of her first child

Emily Ratajkowski addressed her lip injection accusers directly in an Instagram story on Friday.

The pregnant model, who is expecting her first child with independent film producer Sebastian Bear-McClard, took a serious-looking selfie and wrote long captions about her changing face and body.

“For anyone who says ‘you need to stop lip injections’: I never got lip injections (don’t judge the people who do it – you look great!), But you can’t even get an injection when you’re pregnant!” Ratajkowski, 29, wrote. “The woman’s blood volume increases by 50%, which is why women can get a little swollen on the face and lips during pregnancy.”

Although Ratajkowski is adamant that dermal fillers cannot be done during pregnancy, it is not against the law to do so. In addition, the long-term effects of Botox-like fillers or substances on pregnant or nursing women are not currently known, according to a report by Sistine Plastic Surgery – a Pittsburgh-based plastic surgery clinic.

The lack of available research is a major reason why most certified aesthetic doctors and injectors abstain from working with patients at this stage of life. However, it is not impossible to find a professional who can provide an injectable service.

Model colleague Chrissy Teigen, 35, shared with her 13 million Twitter followers that she was “allowed to apply muscle botox to her neck along with a crazy combination of injections with beta-blockers and radio frequency” to help with her September migraines.

8 CELEBRITIES THAT HAVE CHANGED IN MIND ABOUT COSMETIC PROCEDURES

In a situation similar to that of Ratajkowski, BeyoncĂ©’s team spoke out against unfounded lip injection rumors in 2017, according to Harper’s Bazaar.

In the same year, TV personality Dr. Mehmet Oz began a speech during an appearance with “Watching what happens live with Andy Cohen”, when he suggested that Kylie Jenner would be fine if she continued to have lip injections during the pregnancy.

Several medical professionals have spoken out against the catchphrase, saying the cosmetic procedure is unwise.

Jenner did not respond personally to Dr. Oz’s comments, however, the injector who is credited with giving the reality show his signature pout – Dr. Simon Ourian – said he does not lip-fill pregnant patients.

“I recommend that women stop using lip filling as soon as they know they are pregnant,” Ourian told Page Six at the time. “No one knows the implications of lip fillings on pregnant patients, since dermal fillers have not been tested on pregnant women.”
