Olsen also emphasizes the importance of moments of tension in the program.
[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for WandaVision, Episode 2]
We’ve already shared some clips from Elizabeth olsenepisode of Collider Ladies Night that can act as valuable clues to help bring together exactly what’s going on WandaVision. She pointed out that Wanda is a “blank sheet” and not a “blank sheet” at the beginning of the show, and then, of course, there was that provocation that Wanda’s Sokovian accent has not disappeared, but we have more for you than worth worth considering while formulating theories at the beginning of the program.
At one point in our conversation, I asked Olsen if there is anything about this character that she would never have been able to explore, had it not been for the unique style and tone of WandaVision. Here’s what she said:
“Yes! I don’t think we saw that kind of nonsense. What I loved most about this series as an actor was being able to put this character – you know, trust the writing, put this character in a comedy, make her play the role of the best What we know about her life and the MCU world is knocking on her door. It’s these moments of tension that we pass to the public and playing with those levels was what most amused me. trying to grab something and just the tension of it is one of the elements that I liked. But there is so much tension that manifests itself through these episodes that reveal little pieces of what our program is and these are my jewels. ”
There is a lot to love in the first two episodes of WandaVision, but those “moments of tension” are definitely highlights. They are some of our only clues to understand what is really going on here. And be it a look at the dinner table or the expression on Wanda’s face when she finds that toy helicopter, Olsen ensures that you feel that tension she is describing and the weight of the moment as well.
When Olsen says that Wanda is trying to hold on to something, I don’t think she is trying to hold on to the memories of the MCU world. I think the tension is coming from her trying to hold on to that idyllic sitcom existence and keep the MCU world out. Does this mean that Wanda is doing this to herself? Possibly. Or maybe someone else may be creating this world for her, tempting her with her highest hopes and desires.
In one way or another, I have been angry at Olsen so far for taking mere reaction shots that make such an impression. If future installments of WandaVision give her the opportunity to explore this further – and based on Olsen’s quote, it’s safe to assume that they will – so we have a lot to look forward to as we peel away the layers of this mystery.
