Well, it’s certainly been a month for Armie Hammer. In early January, the actor made sensational headlines after alleged images from his Instagram DMs began circulating online in which he seemed to describe violent sexual fantasies involving rape and cannibalism. Then, two of Hammer’s ex-boyfriends came forward individually to talk about their respective relationships with him, characterizing Hammer as a violent and emotionally and psychologically manipulative partner.
Throughout all of this, the actor vehemently defended his character. He denounced the DMs as “bullshit” and, after an ex’s second official allegation, his representative told “Page Six” that “all interactions with that person, or any partner of his, were completely consensual as they were fully discussed, agreed and mutually participatory ”.
Remarkably reticent amid growing complaints against Hammer, there is someone who probably knows him better than most: his ex-wife, actress and businesswoman Elizabeth Chambers, 38. Your silence is understandable. After a 13-year relationship that included a 10-year marriage, the couple broke up last year; Chambers’ divorce claim attributed the split to “irreconcilable differences”. While Hammer and Chambers kept their intentions largely private, months later, reports emerged that Chambers was the only one to end the relationship after she found “passionate texts” on Hammer’s phone.
Now, finally, Chambers spoke. Yesterday, pop culture channel Just Jared posted a photo on Instagram announcing that Hammer’s Timothée Chalamet Call me by your name co-star, was in negotiations to meet with director Luca Guadagnino for a new film. Said film, entitled Bones and everything, becomes an adaptation of a book with the same name, which is a story of maturing centered on … a teenage cannibal.
Chambers had only two words – or possibly none – to say about it. “No. Words,” she commented under the photo of Hammer, Chalamet and Guadagnino. While Just Jared emphasized that Hammer is not involved in the film, the timing of all of this is certainly strange, given that Hammer’s alleged DMs included statements like “I need to drink your blood” and “I am 100% cannibal”. Although Chambers’ comment does not elucidate exactly how she is processing the claims against her ex-husband, at the very least, we can assume that she disapproves of this new creative endeavor, whether the moment coincides or not.
Meanwhile, Hammer has apparently given up on another project. Last night, Variety reported that Hammer was leaving Paramount + ‘s The Godfather miniseries, The ofert, in which he was placed to play the main role. I wonder how that decision was made.
