Dylan McCaffrey is going to play for his father.
The former Michigan defender announced on Twitter on Sunday that he is moving to northern Colorado, where his father Ed McCaffrey is the head coach.
Dylan chose to leave last season before starting due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He played briefly in 2018, but broke his collarbone that season. He played behind quarterback Shea Patterson last year.
Dylan, a former Rivals.com four-star recruit, ended his career with the Wolverines with 242 passing yards and three touchdowns in 10 games.
Dylan transferring to play for his father, Ed
Dylan, who still has two seasons of eligibility and can play immediately because he is a transfer graduate, will join his father’s team in his first season with the Bears.
Ed was hired in northern Colorado in December 2019, replacing Earnest Collins Jr. – who has compiled just a 28-72 record in nine seasons in charge.
Ed, who spent 13 seasons in the NFL, most of which with the Denver Broncos, failed to have his first season normally last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Big Sky conference chose to change its fall season to spring due to the coronavirus, and then northern Colorado decided not to participate. The Bears will instead try to have a modified non-conference schedule this spring.
Dylan’s older brother Christian has just finished his fourth season with the Carolina Panthers. Her younger brother, Luke, has just announced that he is moving from Nebraska.
