Sony’s efforts to expand its shared cinematic universe of Spider-Man characters reportedly include the 90s hero, Dusk.
A new report states that Sony is in the process of bringing to life the dark Spider-Man character, Dusk.
According to The Illuminerdi, Sony is once again expanding its list of films adjacent to Spider-Man in an attempt to build its own cinematic universe. The last character with a film in development is Dusk, a somewhat obscure character from the 90s.
In the comics, Dusk is a cloak worn by several characters in the Negative Zone who are trying to defeat Blastaar. When Spider-Man arrives and learns of the residents’ struggle, he agrees to wear the cloak and serve as his champion. Back in New York City, Peter Parker later wore the all black suit during the Identity crisis plot.

For the purpose of the film, Dusk is more likely to focus on Cassie St. Commons, who first appeared in Slingers # 0 in 1998. She received the costume and name when she joined the Slingers, but quickly died. Instead of remaining dead, however, she gains ghostly abilities, such as the power to teleport, manipulate shadows in forms of energy and regenerate. In return, however, it exists in a state between life and death.
Following the success of the two MCUs Spider man films starring Tom Holland as well as Spider-Man: In the Spider-Verse, Sony Pictures is betting everything on the properties of Marvel Comics which owns the rights to the film. Despite a delay in the recent release, the film starring Jared Leto Morbius is scheduled to launch this year, as is Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The previous film appears to be linked to the MCU, with Michael Keaton’s Vulture appearing in the trailer.
It was also recently announced that Olivia Wilde will direct a Sony Marvel movie, and all signs point to him centering on Spider-Woman. Sony has also been trying to make a Kraven the Hunter movie for some time, along with a feature focused on Black Cat. On the lively side of things, a In the Spider Verse sequence and at least one spinoff, focusing on the many Spider-Women of the multiverse, are underway after the commercial and critical acclaim of the 2018 film. And, of course, the third untitled Spider man the film set at the MCU will arrive at the end of the year.
While there is no more news than to expect from the Dusk adaptation, it is clear that Sony is interested in mining all the IPs it owns when it comes to Marvel Comics characters.
