Draymond Green compares to Magic Johnson and ten cents to Steph Curry

Draymond Green ended with a timid career assist on the Warriors’ burst victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night, but one of his 15 cents stood out from the rest.

Green passed several Mavericks supporters to prepare longtime teammate Steph Curry for a cutting tray in the second quarter.

After the game, Green admired his own pass on his Instagram. He thought the feed was magical and compared his view of the game to the Basketball Hall of Fame – and also the Michigan State Spartan – Magic Johnson.

Green has a few games to match Johnson’s 15-assist mark (123, to be exact), but the 30-year-old had reason to relax on Thursday night. He scored 11 points, the best of the season (in the best pitch of the season, 3 out of 5) amid new questions about his score, and recorded only the second double-double of the season.

Perhaps the most encouraging part of Green’s night was that he needed only three quarters for his best performance of the season. The veteran did not play a second in the fourth period after the Warriors’ second unit moved away on the home stretch.

Green started at the center on Thursday amid the Golden State injury crisis, offering an encouraging glimpse of how the team can play without James Wiseman and Kevon Looney for the rest of the trip. The versatile 6ft-6 will not be Magic-esque every night, but he has shown that he can lead the line for the Warriors in their time of need.
