Approximately two dozen Trump nominees remain in government jobs or on government advisory boards for nearly two months under the Biden government, according to a new report by a government watchdog obtained by The Hill.
Accountable.US, a left-leaning watchdog, found that at least 24 Trump nominees “buried” themselves in public jobs. The appointments mean that Trump-era employees will remain in these positions for the foreseeable future.
The report cited four individuals who were said to have dedicated themselves to national security functions, nine who took on environmental regulation duties and three Department of Justice officials. The allegations reflect those often made during the Trump administration about a so-called profound state of career officials who obstructed the former president’s agenda.
Among those listed in the report as potentially buried in the Biden administration are United States Attorney General Prerak Shah, Brandon Middleton in the Department of Energy and Robert G. Cameron in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
“As these types of positions often go unnoticed, having them full of antagonists from the Biden government could sabotage progress in the many crises we are facing,” Accountable.US President Kyle Herrig said in a statement.
The problem has already surfaced in some cases.

The president also signed an executive order at the beginning of his presidency restoring worker protections and eliminating Schedule F, a Trump-era policy that provided a way for certain nominees to pave the way for long-term public service jobs.
The Accountable.US report also cited more than 100 nominations that Trump made in his last weeks in office to place legalists and allies on government advisory boards. These functions are not official government positions, but reflect the extent to which Trump has stockpiled Washington, DC, commissions with former advisers and donors.
