Former “bachelor’s” student Taylor Nolan, a mental health counselor licensed in the state of Washington, could possibly be investigated by the state’s Department of Health, which has received “multiple” complaints about its controversial tweets, discovered Page Six.
“This week, we received several complaints against Nolan in connection with the problems you mentioned,” said DOH spokesman Gordon MacCracken on Tuesday. “These complaints are being evaluated. Patient safety is our top priority and we take all complaints seriously. “
Last weekend, racist and discriminatory tweets about the BIPOC, LGBTQ and mental health communities – allegedly written by Nolan, 27, in the past – surfaced online. His comments also included comments that many considered shameful and embarrassing.
One of the tweets that most raised her eyebrows – due to her profession – was a tweet from May 2012 in which she wrote, “#WeWontWorkIf I already diagnosed you with a personality disorder”, and replied to the topic, “treatment: SUICIDE. “
This week, Nolan made several apologies on his Instagram, stating that his “10 years ago” tweets are “shit, they suck, they were wrong and they are painful”.
She added in a video: “I want to make it clear that they do not harm the work I do today, they are literally how I got here to do this work”.
Nolan was licensed as a mental health counselor in Washington in 2016, and we are told that she “has no previous disciplinary history”.
According to her LinkedIn, she has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stevenson University, which she attended at the time when some of the controversial tweets were written. She also has a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Johns Hopkins University.
On her website, Nolan said she is “passionate about helping people help themselves”.
She made her reality show debut on Nick Viall’s 2017 season of “The Bachelor”. She then appeared on the 4th season of “Bachelor in Paradise”, where she met Derek Peth. The couple became engaged after the show, but gave up in June 2018.
Since then, Nolan has openly criticized other stars of the Singles Nation who have been criticized for race-related scandals. She resigned from presenter Chris Harrison, who announced that he is moving away from the franchise after defending current competitor Rachael Kirkconnell, who has apologized for his own racist behavior in the past.
The Washington State Department of Health clarified that, although they are reviewing the complaints they received, “not all complaints lead us to open cases” and they “deal with each complaint individually and assess its merits”.
We have also been told that, if an investigation is opened, “it may or may not” lead to charges, depending on the “facts of the case”.
If the charges are brought, the potential results can range from “dismissal or withdrawal of charges” to “suspension or revocation of the license”.
In the case of Nolan, MacCracken told Page Six, “This is in the early stages and we cannot predict what the outcome will be.”
A representative for Nolan declined to comment.
