Deshaun Watson posts an enigmatic tweet after Texans hire Nick Caserio

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson accessed Twitter not long after his team agreed to Nick Caserio’s terms as the team’s next general manager.

Caserio, currently the team manager for Patriots players, hails from New England, as did the previous regime in Houston. Former Texas coach and general manager Bill O’Brien, a former offensive Patriots coordinator, led the Texans with the help of Jack Easterby, a former Patriots character trainer. Houston fired O’Brien in October, but kept Easterby.

So Watson may not be happy to see the organization take a similar turn with Caserio, another branch of Bill Belichick’s general management and coaching tree.

Here’s what Watson wrote on Twitter: “some things never change …”

O’Brien infamously swapped Watson’s best pass-catcher, DeAndre Hopkins, for the Arizona Cardinals during the 2020 off-season. The change was one of many – including swapping two choices in the first round for the left tackle Laremy Tunsil – which led to O’Brien’s downfall in Houston.

Caserio will be tasked with hiring a coach for Houston. There is no shortage of excellent options, including Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
