Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said on Monday that liberal governors and Democratic-run states were “invested in blockages” not supported by science, and said Florida’s reopening helped the state recover from the coronavirus.
Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade went to Florida to spend the day with DeSantis and his family to discuss the governor’s approach to the coronavirus pandemic and how vaccine delivery is working in the state.
When asked about Biden’s recent comment comparing red state governors with Neanderthals, DeSantis said that if the blocks were effective, coronavirus numbers in Florida would be significantly worse than in New York.
He added that New York has almost twice the Florida COVID mortality per capita.
“I think these guys are investing in roadblocks – I understand, the facts don’t support that,” said DeSantis. “Look, if the blockages worked, Florida would be a lot worse than New York and those other states.”

DeSantis also said that restaurants in Florida are “thriving”, while some other states are not allowing restaurants to operate at full capacity, if at all.
“I think the people here – they really appreciate the way Florida approached [the pandemic]. “
Florida received “a lot of opposition from the corporate media” for going “against the grain” about how states handled the coronavirus blockade, DeSantis said recently before addressing CPAC.
“But our kids are in school. Parents are happy about it. Our economy is growing. People are working.
