The 28-year-old actress is back in the spotlight with her docuseries, Demi Lovato: Dancing With The Devil.

In it, she details her near-fatal 2018 overdose and subsequent journey to sobriety.

Sitting down with DeGeneres on Monday, she explained how she feels more free and authentic since she cut her hair.

“I feel like I used to hide behind my hair,” said Lovato, who confessed that he used to cover his body with his long hair when he was fighting eating disorders.

‘When I started doing all this work on myself, I thought,’ what is something I have been holding on to all my life and need to give up? She explained about her decision to cut off her head.

Lovato also told DeGeneres that she hopes her documentaries will help people realize that they can overcome their ‘deepest and darkest struggles’.

She also said that another reason for telling her story is to “clear things up”.

‘I just wanted to say to the world,’ Hey, this is what happened, this is how I got over it and I hope it can help you too, ” she explained.

‘Because this journey has been such a wild ride, but I’ve learned a lot and I can’t wait to share it with the world.’

While she continued to reflect on the life-changing incident and the effect it continued to have on her, her friends and family, Demi compared her resilience to that of a cat with nine lives.
