ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) – The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office says officers are trying to identify the person who stole a car parked in a convenience store.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said: “The owner had left the vehicle to enter the store. … The autonomous vehicle was then taken by occupants of another vehicle.
The theft happened just before 9 pm on Monday at the BP station on St. Matthews Road near I-26, Ravenell said.
The sheriff’s agency said BP officials gave them access to a security video showing the victim driving a blue Chevrolet Cobalt.
The footage shows another man getting out of a black Jeep Cherokee that parked next to the victim’s car. Police say the man in the jeep gets into the victim’s car and drives off towards Calhoun County.
Investigators say they managed to take a picture of the man in the jeep when he entered the business before the theft.
MPs ask anyone with information about the occupants of the jeep or the incident itself to call 803-534-3550 or Crimestoppers of the Lowcountry at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
