Debra Messing reveals that she would like to play Lucille Ball in a new film that Nicole Kidman wants

Nicole Kidman is reportedly in talks for a Lucille Ball biopic.

But Debra Messing seems to think she would be a good choice for the role after playing the icon in Will & Grace. On Monday, she shared on her Twitter page that she is ready for work.

When a fan tweeted: ‘Choosing to believe that @DebraMessing was not available or something :), she quoted and wrote:’ Oh no, I am available. ‘

Aaron Sorkin is writing and directing the next biopic Being The Ricardos for Amazon, following his streaming success with The Trial Of The Chicago 7 for Netflix.

Although Nicole is considered the choice for Lucy, Javier Bardem is in negotiations for the role of her husband and co-star Desi Arnaz, Deadline reported on Monday.

In the final season of the Will And Grace revival, Debra impersonated Lucille Ball in the character of I Love Lucy.

She recreated a series of classic moments from the original sitcom, including Lucy’s ad ‘Vitameatavegamin’ and her clumsy attempts to work in a chocolate factory.

When news broke that Nicole could be chosen for the role, Debra began to work hard, defending herself for the role.

A fan pointed out that Debra told Variety last year that she was not willing to play Lucille Ball for a TV project.

‘Like 15 years ago people would say,’ Hey, do you want to make a movie made for TV or something? ‘And I always felt like, “Oh, I wouldn’t even touch it. Like she was untouchable,” Debra shared with Variety at the time.

However, on Monday, when a Twitter user brought the quote, Debra said, ‘Ummmmmm, I changed my mind’, with a winking emoji.

Debra also retweeted several people saying they would prefer her as Lucy, including sitcom star Valerie Bertinelli, who wrote: ‘Debra Messing was stolen.’

She retweeted messages like: ‘No way !!! Debra Messing would be perfect !! I always said that she was the closest thing to Lucy in a long time. I love Nicole Kidman, but I can’t see her as Lucy.

Another Twitter user wrote: ‘Nicole Kidman ??? Debra Messing is the perfect choice for this role. I love you, I don’t always agree with you, but you nailed it ”, and was rewarded with a retweet from Debra.

Desi, who played Lucy’s band leader husband Ricky Ricardo on his show, had a tumultuous marriage to her in real life.

She filed for divorce for the first time in 1944, allegedly because of her betrayal and drinking, but they met again before they finally parted in 1960.

In the meantime, they produced two children and the comedy that made them a TV legend, which lasted from 1951 to 1957.

They also starred in films together during the wedding, including Forever, Darling and the comedy Vincente Minnelli, The Long, Long Trailer.

Despite the divorce, in which she called the marriage a “nightmare”, Lucy and Desi remained publicly friendly for the rest of their lives.

Lucy married comedian Gary Morton of Borscht Belt in 1961 and stayed with him until his death in 1989, while Desi married Edith Hirsch in 1963.

Edith and Desi died of cancer a year apart – she passed away in 1985 and her husband, who loved cigars from his native Cuba, succumbed to lung cancer in 1986.

Aaron Sorkin’s new biopic is about a single last week doing an episode of I Love Lucy, during which Lucy and Desi’s marriage is shaken.

The turbulent week, reportedly running from the table read for recording in front of a studio audience, includes a professional land mine for the couple as well.
