Gucci Mane is one of the few rappers who lived what they rhyme. While this is common knowledge for people in the South, the French Montana of the Bronx learned this lesson the hard way.

During a conversation with The Drink Champs podcast, the woman responsible for helping to break Gucci Mane and French Montana, Deb Antney, recalls a time when Gucci lived up to his legend at Montana’s expense.

“The French did not do very well in Georgia,” she told the show’s co-host, NORE. “Gucci didn’t like French. Because the first time he went to the studio to make a song with him, he paid Gucci $ 5,000 to participate in a feature film. And he was just sitting in the studio and Gucci had come out the back door. Gucci just took the money and left. “

On his way to becoming one of the ancestors of Trap Music, Gucci Mane made his name on the streets of Atlanta. This reputation preceded him and Antney explained at FX’s Hip hop discovered how she managed to negotiate a deal with Jimmy Henchmen to put Gucci in the music industry. As Antney was responsible for Gucci, she explained to NORE how she smoothed things over with the Frenchman.

“I just gave French $ 5,000,” she continued before placing the rapper in the care of her son, Waka Flocka Flame.
