Deadly shot in Philadelphia at ‘pop-up party’, police add reinforcements and hunt suspects

Philadelphia police are looking to step up their patrols after an increase in armed violence, including a shot by six victims on Saturday morning.

The police responded to a call around 3:45 am at a “pop-up” party with about 150 people in Hot Pot Kitchen on Germantown Avenue.

One victim, a 29-year-old man, was shot 14 times in the whole body, police said. The victim was taken to Temple Hospital, where she was pronounced dead almost immediately.

Participants fled, causing the crime scene to take several blocks, reported WHYY. Some shell casings were found blocks from the initial shot.

“There were at least 150 people there who fled and believed they would have to flee for their lives, so this is a big deal,” said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw.

Five other victims – three men and two women – were injured, all reportedly in “stable condition”. Each of the other victims was hit only once by a bullet in some part of their body.

Outlaw decided to increase patrols to curb rampant gun violence, NBC Philadelphia reported.

“We think that the shootings or the violence would decrease at some point because of the weather and, frankly, I think we saw that it did not,” said Outlaw.

The investigation is in its early stages. No suspects have been identified.

Outlaw is said to have said the event was “illegal” as it violated coronavirus security restrictions, and that the police would contact the city about possible sanctions for the restaurant.

The Philadelphia Police Department did not return a request for comment from Fox News.
