Dax Shepard is opening up about how to confess everything.
In September last year, the 46-year-old publicly announced that he had a relapse with opiates after a motorcycle accident. At the time of his announcement, he said he had not been drinking or using cocaine in 16 years.
During a virtual appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Tuesday, Shepard talked about going public with the information and why he found it so difficult.
“I did not want [announce the relapse] “He admitted.” I had all kinds of bizarre fears like, ‘I have sponsors on my show, is that something that could cost me money financially?’ “

However, it was not just about money for the “Bless This Mess” star, but also his fans.
“But the first thing I was afraid of losing was: I get so much esteem for being someone who is vocally sober and I have people to write to me, ‘I’m in the first month’ or ‘I’m in the 2nd week’ and I love it, it’s my favorite thing about being in public “, he explained.
Shepard added: “I was afraid to miss it. I really appreciate it and I have a good friend who said, ‘You know, if your real goal is to help people, it is not very useful that you are 16 years old sober and married to Kristen. Bell. It doesn’t help many people, in fact, it probably makes their lives worse. ‘”

The actor’s friend said that his relapse has “real value” for followers and that announcing it is “the thing you can do that is useful”.
Shepard was convinced and publicized his renewed addiction, saying that the idea of opening up “just got a lot easier” after hearing this prospect.

In the September 25 episode of his podcast “Armchair Specialist”, the 45-year-old actor admitted he was taking too much Vicodin for shoulder pain. Shepard said he was ” [pills] all day.”

“I can take them with some dosage because I have a prescription. And I am also increasing it. And then all the recipes are over and now I am taking only 30 thousand Oxys that I always bought. I decide I can do [it],” he said.

Shepard also described his detox. “I’m sweating from bullets; I’m jerky; my back hurts. It’s terrible,” he said. “I never detoxed from opiates.”
He confirmed that he was looking for help at the time and also spoke with his family and a small group of friends.
