The pressure from Congressional Democrats to condemn former President Donald Trump for objectionable offenses is “driven by the party fury and party anger that Democrats feel,” Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, told Hannity on Tuesday.
“They hate Donald J. Trump and are engaged in an act that I think is petty revenge and that is vindictive and a waste of time,” Cruz told presenter Sean Hannity, adding, “so I think it’s time to move on. ahead. “
Cruz told “Hannity” that he heard the 46th president call for unity in his inauguration speech, but Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., must not have understood the message.
“Unfortunately, Democratic congressmen have not heard a word of what he said,” said Cruz of Biden. “And the first step they took was to move towards a partisan, divisive and furious impeachment trial.”
Turning to the impeachment itself, Cruz argued that the Chamber’s action “does not meet the constitutional standard.
“They did not pretend to follow due process, they did not have hearings, they did not pretend to examine any facts or evidence,” he said. “This was an exercise in political fury. It was his id speaking … look, these are the same Democrats as four years ago, in 2017 – in fact, in December 2016, before Trump was installed, they said they wanted impeachment Him. They wanted to accuse you from the start. They did that a year ago.
“I feel kind of stuck on ‘Groundhog Day’, where, apparently, every January, we will be doing another impeachment.”

Turning to Biden’s decision last week to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline, Cruz described the modern Democratic party as “the party of Hollywood celebrities, big tech billionaires and incredibly wealthy coastal elites.
“But if you work, if you are a union member, if you are a worker, if you have calluses on your hands, if you are a policeman or a fireman … this Democratic Party doesn’t care about you,” he added.
