Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and her team allegedly “scolded” Missouri House Democrat Cori Bush, who said on Friday that she is moving her office from Greene “to the safety of my team”.
Bush also said in a tweet that the Georgia Republican “was targeting me and others on social media.”
Bush, in reference to the January 6 deadly riot on Capitol Hill by supporters of former President Donald Trump, noted that she “called for the expulsion of members who incited the insurrection from day one.”
In the wake of this invasion, Bush tabled a resolution directing the House Ethics Committee to investigate whether any lawmakers who tried to overthrow President Joe Biden’s electoral victory “violated his term oath” and “should face sanction, including removing the House of Representatives. Representatives. “
Bush’s statement implied that Greene should be included in the proposed investigation. Both Greene and Bush are newly elected representatives who took office in Congress earlier this month.
Spokesmen for Greene and Bush did not immediately respond to CNBC’s requests to comment on the Missouri Democrat’s statement on Twitter, or to obtain additional details about the alleged altercation.
An aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Confirmed to NBC News that Bush’s office has been moved. “This change in the designation of the room was at the direct order of the speaker,” the aide told NBC.
Bush and Greene have offices located on the same floor as the Longworth House Office Building, one of three buildings for members of the House on Capitol Hill.
Greene expressed support for the radical pro-Trump conspiracy theory, QAnon, whose believers in some cases applauded the Capitol invasion, which left five dead.
Greene was recently the target of additional attacks after reports that she approached a survivor of the Parkland school shooting and liked social media posts calling for violence against Democrats.
On Wednesday, a news team from the NBC affiliate WRCB was reportedly removed from a city hall event and threatened with arrest after trying to ask Greene a question.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Criticized Greene and the “absolutely appalling” decision by the House’s top Republicans to appoint Greene to the House Education Committee.
“What could they be thinking about? Or thinking a very generous word for what they might be doing?” Pelosi said Thursday at a press conference.
