‘Coming 2 America’ arrives early on Amazon; The Eddie Murphy sequel has also booked a few cinemas – deadline

If you turn on Amazon Prime, you’ll see that the long-awaited Eddie Murphy sequel Coming 2 America can now be broadcast a full day before the release date on Friday, March 5th.

Essentially, what happened here is that Coming 2 America it was a global launch on Prime, as an insider explained to me, so it crashed everywhere at the same time. I was told that the film was made available at 5 pm PST.

A similar situation happened when Amazon fell Borat Subsequent Movie Film in October; it fell earlier in certain time zones well before its October 23 debut.

Coming 2 America, which originally was due to be released by Paramount at Christmas, will also have a theatrical release by Amazon in some theaters this weekend. Here in Los Angeles, Vineland Drive-In is playing the feature. In Atlanta, GA, the sequel is playing at Landmark Midtown Art Cinema and Starlight Drive-In. Deadline reported for the first time that the sequel directed by Craig Brewer for the success of the 1988 Murphy film was purchased by the streamer for $ 125 million.
