Colorado moving to relax the mask’s mandate, capacity limits

DENVER (AP) – The Colorado Department of Health is moving to relax its statewide mask mandate and limits on collection capacity, saying the state’s role in determining COVID-19 restrictions will diminish in favor of control more local as vaccination eligibility opens up more widely.

The proposal announced on Friday would allow local authorities and “private entities” in counties with the lowest rates of coronavirus infection to determine whether or not masks are necessary.

This would also remove most capacity restrictions for restaurants, retailers and outdoor events. There are currently only two counties where this applies: the rural counties of Crowley and Otero.
