America got the award it never knew it wanted on Sunday’s “American Idol”.
Claudia Conway returned to Hollywood Week after an unstable audition, and her mother, former Trump White House advisor Kellyanne Conway, came into the conversation with an impromptu chorus from “Girl On Fire”.
Young 16-year-old Conway reappeared with her black hair and decided to follow Judge Katy Perry’s advice to “calm the storm” around her. Conway achieved popularity on TikTok amid a contentious relationship with his mother, who left the White House last summer to focus on the family. His father, attorney George Conway of the anti-Trump Lincoln Project, also took a hiatus from his work. (He accompanied Claudia to the test that aired in February.)
This time, the teenager sang a useful version of Bishop Briggs’ “River” and waited for her fate in the line of other aspirants. Perry reported that everyone moved forward and Kellyanne Conway shouted “Claudia, wow!”
Backstage, Conway hugged his daughter and sang “This girl is on fire, this girl is on fire”.
