Classifying the four classes of the ‘Outriders’ demonstration, so far

Okay, well, I finally made it through the Outriders demo taking all four classes to the maximum level, which is only 7 for now, which gives you two skill points and four skills in total. There’s one much more to materialize, since the game is designed around a very deep construction, but I think it’s time for my first level ranking list based on what I’ve seen so far.

Obviously, it depends on what drops you got, as there can certainly be equipment that increases the power of one movement or another, but just for my overall playing time, this is how I would classify the four classes of Outriders now.

1. Trickster

Of all the classes, it’s hard to say that any is more fun for me than Trickster, who uses teleportation and the ability to delay time to be the best face-to-face class out there, despite not being a tank. at first.

It is difficult to even choose a favorite Trickster skill. The blade that apparently ages enemies to death? The teleportation movement behind them for an instant shotgun or melee shot? But the best and most beautiful has to be the slow time bubble, which slows down enemies and their bullets, creating some of the best combat moments in the game. The class just flows and it rarely seems like you need to hide and you can instead focus on the action. This was the last class I tried, but without a doubt my favorite.

2. Devastator

I had to look for the name of this class because I keep calling it “Geodude”, but you are Geodude, getting involved in rocks and causing earthquakes in your wake.

This is another “you don’t really need to be covered” class, where you gain health by killing enemies close to you, but unlike the Trickster, the plan here is to be a walking tank. The movements of the earthquake are a great interruption, and we saw later movements that made him stick his enemies in stalactites (stalagmites?), And it is simply a joy to play. I don’t give up on understanding the physics of the “jump back into the air and hit the enemy like a rocket” movement, but I like it. I think this class plays better in groups, but it can still be a lot of fun solo.

3. Technomancer

For my money, Technomancer is probably the “best” DPS class I used, since since you can get a lot of your gadgets, all working at the same time, the results are quite unfair. The freezing tower, in particular, can achieve essentially 100% uptime, which means that it always turns enemies into blocks of ice. The rocket salvo is probably the most damaging move in the demonstration.

Technomancer is inferior here just because it looks … a little like other classes in different games, as if it had been pulled from the Division or something. It is effective, certainly, but in those early stages, I had more fun with the previous two because they seemed unique. I’m still not feeling that with Technomancer, even though they are very effective in combat.

4. Pyromancer

This was the first class I tried, and the one I’m running on the PC while the other three are on the console. It’s still fun, and the “instantaneous health of an enemy movement” in particular is especially good, but this kit hasn’t done it for me so far, and it hasn’t clicked in terms of overall damage production yet. Of course, it is the only class in which I have met a legend so far, because of course it is.

I’m going to give it more time and I still think it can be fun, but if I had to make a ranking order as I am here, Pyromancer is in last place for now. This may change in the future.
