Christie calls Bruce Castor’s impeachment trial performance “unthinkable”

“I will be very frank with you, we changed what we were going to do because we think the presentation by the managers of the House was well done,” said Castor.

Castor’s comments portrayed the defense team as ill-prepared, Christie said in a radio interview on Wednesday on Fox News’s “Guy Benson Show”. Instead of assuming that “the other side is going to be tremendous and prepare accordingly”, the defense team appeared to be counting on the incompetence of its opponents, he said.

“I mean, it is unthinkable to do something like that,” he said. “Even if you think, you don’t say.”

Christie’s comments on the defense team’s performance largely reflected what republican senators said after the first day of proceedings. Senator Susan Collins of Maine said she thought Castor “did not present a case” and was “intrigued” by his presentation, and Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.) Said it looked like Trump’s lawyers were ” ashamed of their arguments. ”

On Tuesday night, Castor’s test partner, David Schoen, defended Castor’s role to Fox News Sean Hannity, telling him that Castor and his law firm “seem to be very capable people” and that Castor did not plan to start his arguments on Tuesday.

“So I am sure that they will be very well prepared in the future and will do a great job on the case,” said Schoen.
