Chrissy Teigen is sharing the book that inspired her to sober up.
The cookbook author revealed in her Instagram Stories on Wednesday that she won the book Stop like a woman by its author Holly Whitaker last month, and reading led her to give up alcohol.
Teigen, who turned 35 on November 30, shared that she disliked her behavior when she drank and that the book was the push she needed to stop.
“A month ago, on my birthday, I got this book from my doctor and friend,” wrote Teigen about a photo from the book. “I was sick of playing dumb in front of people (I’m still ashamed), tired of drinking during the day and feeling like shit at 6, unable to sleep.”
Teigen continued that “she has been sober ever since” and encouraged her fans to read – “even if you don’t see yourself doing it or just don’t want to,” she wrote, “it’s still an incredible read.”

Earlier this week, Teigen shared on Instagram that he has been alcohol-free for four weeks.

Teigen, who shares daughter Luna Simone, 4, and son Miles Theodore, 2, with husband John Legend, had previously revealed about his relationship with alcohol. In 2017, she said Cosmopolitan that she was “just drinking too much” and was on a break from alcohol at the time.
She explained that she had “gotten used to wearing her hair, makeup and having a glass of wine”, which would become “taking one before the awards”.
“And then a lot at the awards,” she said. “And then I felt bad about making myself kind of an idiot to the people I really respected. And that feeling, there’s just nothing like that. You feel awful. It’s not looking good for me, for John, for no one.”
