Chrissy Teigen is unable to do what is right today.
The former Sports Illustrated model is gaining prominence on social media once again – this time for supporting her husband John Legend, who was invited to perform at President Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony.
The stacked lineup – which includes Garth Brooks, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen, among many others – recorded their acts on Tuesday for television audiences on Wednesday.
But despite the star-driven presidential transition, not everyone was enthusiastic about the celebrity caravan in DC – with the city still recovering from the Capitol riot on January 6.
On Tuesday, Teigen, a vocal advocate for Biden during the election, tweeted about her family’s excitement over the trip to the White House: “Good bags for possession,” the 35 year old wrote, along with a photo of his son Miles sporting an uncomfortable fat lip before the event.
But some followers found his happiness offensive.
“Hey, Chrissy DC residents are not very ‘happy’ right now and they can’t even ‘pack’ their cars to go to the supermarket because of the military state the city is in, but LOL has collapsed especially in a pandemic. How happy !!! ” tweeted @staceybrnan.
When another fan pointed out that Teigen and his family did not participate in the Capitol invasion, @staceybrnan doubled over by calling the cookbook author “Cravings” “deaf” for traveling to DC – “when John is doing a show, no one will yet be able to see. “
“It’s all a privilege and it really minimizes what DC is going through,” she said.
Viewers will be able to watch the show of the singer “Ordinary People” – tonight, on several television networks, as well as on social media platforms. But @staceybrnan won’t accept any of that.
“Why couldn’t he do a virtual performance and also why does his whole family have to go when literally no one can move around the city?” she asked. “She should turn on the TV,” he concluded, referring to Teigen and his family.
Then Teigen intervened again. “For God’s sake, why are you always mad at me,” she regretted. “All I want to do is make you happy or at least leave you with a neutral feeling of indifference.”
Many fans, including DC residents, came to Teigen’s defense against DC’s privileged watchdog.
“Please don’t speak on behalf of DC residents. Thanks, ”said @ZeroACento.
“Some people just choose to be absolutely stingy for no reason,” @ aliberk65 replied in the topic. “I feel sorry for them. I feel sorry for those who need to be close to them. So much hate in your hearts. “
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and a historic moment. She has the ability to make her children witness the first biracial woman – someone who looks like them! – become the VP! They will always remember that. I live in DC and it sucks. [Don’t] put your anger in it, ” added @kerirulz.
Teigen doesn’t seem to be letting criticism get to her – and she is just as thrilled to see Biden take over as the 81 million other Americans who voted for him.
And, like us, she is also overrated by J.Lo.
In a series of videos she shared while watching the events unfolding outside her DC hotel window on Wednesday morning she exclaimed, “Breaking news, breaking news: it’s J.Lo and A.Rod!”
