The film, based on the opera of the same name, tells the story of a soldier who falls in love with an irresistible woman named Carmen.
Although the original was set in Spain, this adaptation will follow a Mexican woman’s quest for freedom in America.
The production, which was originally scheduled to take place in Mexico and Los Angeles, was moved to Australia due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
At this stage, it is not clear what role Elsa should play.
