Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was disgusted by the domestic violence charges brought against former Giants striker Chad Wheeler last month.
“To be honest, what happened to Wheeler is disgusting,” Kelce said during a Super Bowl LV videoconference on Monday. “I think it has nothing to do with the NFL and it is ridiculous that a guy like that even had a job … What happened to that girl – there is no room for that in this world and he should be treated accordingly. “
Wheeler pleaded not guilty to three domestic violence-related charges on Monday, according to ESPN. Wheeler was charged with first-degree domestic violence, domestic violence, illegal imprisonment and resistance to imprisonment after his arrest 10 days ago.

The Seattle Times first reported on Wheeler’s arrest last Monday:
A report from the Kent Police Department said the police responded to a call from a woman who was locked in a bathroom after a “physical fight” with her boyfriend. The victim called 911 to say she was being “killed”. The police were informed that she had suffered a dislocated arm and was bleeding. According to the report, when the police arrived, they heard screams coming from inside the apartment and, after forcing their way in, they heard more screams coming from a bathroom. They forced their way to the bathroom and found the victim and Wheeler. He was standing beside her, the report said.
Wheeler took to Twitter last week to explain your side of the story. Note that in his tweets, Wheeler referred to the victim by name. But as a matter of policy, NJ Advance Media does not disclose the names of the victims of alleged domestic violence.
Events took place over the weekend that resulted from a manic episode. I deeply regret the pain and suffering I caused (drafted) and your family.
I apologize profusely for the turmoil I caused to my family, teammates, fans and people close to me. The most important thing now is that (written) she receives the care she needs and I seek help. Both are happening.
It’s time to leave football and get the help I need to never pose a threat to someone else. I can’t express my sadness or remorse enough. I’m really ashamed.
Wheeler joined the Giants in 2017 as a non-hired free agent and spent two seasons with New York, playing 27 games. The Giants launched Wheeler before the start of the 2019 regular season. He spent the last season with the Seattle Seahawks.
