Cher apologizes for George Floyd’s tweets that sparked criticism

Cher says she is “sorry” after claiming that she could have prevented George Floyd’s death – and was accused of having a “white savior” complex.

The 74-year-old singer admitted that she realized that she hurt people “for not knowing everything that ‘is not appropriate to say’.

“I know that Ppl apologizes when they’re in a traffic jam, BUT [hand] FOR GOD … TRULY I’m sorry if I disturb someone in [the black] Community. I know mine [heart],” Is it over there wrote on Twitter.

The singer was criticized after tweeting on Friday that she was watching the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who planted his knee in Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds during a routine arrest.

It will seem crazy, but … I kept thinking … maybe if I had been there … I could have helped, “she wrote.

Many people online have accused her of the privilege of being white and being deaf to tones.

“The size of your white savior complex is overwhelming,” wrote a Twitter user.

But the singer doubled down on her tweet on Saturday, insisting that she had the experience of intervening at the fatal police encounter.
