MIAMI, Fla. – Police found a person and vehicle hit by bullets and came across a chaotic scene at Miami’s Bayside Marketplace on Christmas night after responding to reports of gunfire
Two shootings took place about an hour apart and Miami police are still investigating whether the shooting was related.
It started around 10:30 pm, near the corner of Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 2nd Street, in downtown Miami. Cell phone video obtained from residents of high-end condominiums on the boulevard showed people dispersing after hearing the sound of gunfire.
Detectives told Local 10 that a woman was hit by a bullet but refused treatment.
One person was arrested at the scene, but his possible involvement remains unclear.
While investigating the shooting, police responded to a second shooting about an hour later, just a block south.
Police later arrested a man who had been shot in the leg.
Crime scene detectives returned to the scene shortly after sunrise, placing at least a dozen evidence markers on the floor. The scene was erased just before 9 am on Saturday.
At this point, investigators have yet to say whether the two shots are related.
