Lambs sleep with a humidifier on, drink tea and do vocal exercises for weeks, and next month they’ll scream like you’ve never heard them scream before. On Sunday, CBS released the first full trailer of its next drama Clarice, effectively a sequel to the 1988 Thomas Harris novel The Silence of the Lambs. In it, Agent Starling, taken to the big screen in the 1991 film adaptation of Jonathan Demme by Jodie Foster and played here by Little liars actress Rebecca Breeds, tries to leave the distressing events of the book behind a year later and return to her career chasing killers in the FBI, only to be haunted by her recent closeness to evil. No, we are not talking about Hannibal Lecter, who is not mentioned in the trailer, but Buffalo Bill, the serial killer that Starling took down with the help of Hannibal.
Clarice will find encouragement on her way with friend and fellow FBI agent Ardelia Mapp (Kasi Lemmons in the film, played by Devyn A. Tyler in the series) and Senator-turned-attorney general Ruth Martin (Diane Baker in the film, represented here Jayne Atkinson), although his daughter Catherine (Brooke Smith in the film, now played by Marnee Carpenter), the last alleged victim of Buffalo Bill, seems much less optimistic. “I will never be safe,” Catherine warns. “Neither you.” Only time will tell who or what she is still afraid of death. Clarice will debut on CBS and CBS All Access Thursday, February 11 at 10 pm ET / 9 pm CT.
“I will never be safe,” says Catherine. “Neither do you.” Only time will tell who or what she is still afraid of death and, hopefully, the series premiere, which will air on CBS and CBS All Access Thursday, February 11 at 10 pm ET / 9 pm CT.
