Carolina animal shelter hosts dog wedding to raise funds

(WVLT / WXII) – Love is in the air this month, and this is especially true for two South Carolina puppies – Sassy and Spero.

The Greenville County animal care center held a wedding last Thursday to support donations to the new heartworm treatment fund to raise awareness about the adoption of shelter dogs.

The center broadcast the dog’s “wedding” live, which was planned by the Wedding Festivals and Upstate Bridal Association, the WXII reported.

Sassy and Spero have been together since Sassy started treatment for heartworm, according to the shelter.

“Every dog with positive heartworm will have its treatment completely covered, making it easier than ever to adopt a dog with positive heartworm,” the shelter posted on Facebook.

WXII said that this is not the first canine wedding that the center organizes. The tradition goes back several years, with the couple from last year being Honey and Duke.
