Candace Cameron Bure decided to celebrate the new year by sharing a recent family photo on social media. But when the star read some of the comments that followed, she lost that festive feeling.
Over the weekend, she questioned the “haters”.
“I posted my family Christmas photo and, unfortunately, there were so many unpleasant comments,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “Do you think it’s funny to criticize someone else’s children? To make jokes about them? To criticize our poses? The direction in which we are looking? Our physical appearance and facial expressions? I wished everyone blessings by sharing it in the spirit of a happy new year, but many of you came back with jokes about our appearance and criticisms of what you thought would be a better photo. “
The photo in question, taken by photographer Melissa Coulier (who is married to Dave Coulier, Bure’s former Full House), was shared on Instagram and showed Bure posing next to her husband Valeri and her three children, daughter Natasha, 22, and sons Lev, 20, and Maksim, 18. But it wasn’t exactly a typical holiday photo with a Christmas tree and matching pajamas. Instead, the professional photo showed the family standing behind a house, looking in different directions and offering very different expressions.
Praising commentators compared the polished photo to the cover of a country music album, and several said it could pass for an Ralph Lauren ad. But there were the other commentators, those who separated the photo.
“This is a very strange photo,” wrote one person, who continued to say that one of Bure’s sons “looks stoned”, that his daughter “looks like an evil queen from the Disney movie” and she “would fire the photographer” on the basis in the image.
The actor’s daughter also offered her own comment in response to that feeling on Instagram, writing: “Oh, my God, I didn’t smile or look at the camera. Process me !!! “
