This morning, TMZ reported that in November Bruce Springsteen was arrested and charged with drunk driving, reckless driving and drinking alcohol in an enclosed area. The incident occurred at the Gateway National Recreation Area in New Jersey. A spokeswoman for the National Park Service confirmed the arrest on November 14 in The New York Times, adding, “Springsteen was cooperative throughout the process”.
Following TMZ’s report, Springsteen’s Super Bowl ad for the Jeep has been removed from YouTube, as InsideHook notes. The ad, entitled “The Middle”, marked Springsteen’s first commercial appearance. In addition, he and Ron Aniello wrote and produced the song for the commercial, according to a press release from Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep. “The Middle” is still available on Springsteen’s Instagram.
Pitchfork contacted representatives from Jeep and Bruce Springsteen for comments and more information.
