More details are coming to light about Bruce Springsteen’s arrest in the November DWI.
The “Born in the USA” singer was arrested by DWI, driving recklessly and drinking alcohol in an enclosed area months ago while in the Gateway National Recreation Area, a public relations official confirmed to Fox News.
Now, statements of probable cause obtained by Fox News show that “The Boss” allegedly refused to take a preliminary breathalyzer test when he was first approached by a park ranger at the scene.
“Springsteen refused to do a preliminary breath test (PBT), despite signs of intoxication, notably after testing his gaze and walking and turning,” a ranger named RL Hayes claims in the document.

In addition, the ranger said he had observed the musician “consuming a dose of Patron tequila” before getting on his motorcycle to “start the engine”.
Hayes claims to have informed Springsteen, a native of New Jersey, that drinking on the park grounds “is prohibited”.
“The Patron bottle from which the dose was poured was completely empty (750ml),” writes the ranger. “I asked Springsteen if he was leaving and he confirmed that he was going to drive out of the park.”

Hayes said Springsteen smelled like alcohol. “[He] it smelled strongly of alcohol coming out of him and had glassy eyes, “says the report.
The ranger goes on to say that Springsteen “said he took two shots of tequila in the last 20 minutes.”

Bruce Springsteen was arrested on November 14, 2020 in his home state of New Jersey for three citations, including DWI.

The ranger also said he “observed four of the six clues in the horizontal look nystagmus test”. The musician was “visibly rocking back and forth as I watched his eyes,” said Hayes. “I observed five of the eight tracks in the walk and turn test. Springsteen took 45 steps in total during the walk and turn instead of the 19 instructed. [He] refused to provide a sample in the preliminary breath test. “
Springsteen is expected to attend a virtual audience later this month. The documents specify that the exact location of his arrest occurred in a “lighthouse” in the park.

The news of Springsteen’s surprise arrest led to the deletion of his recent YouTube Super Bowl LV ad.
The Jeep ad, titled “The Middle,” featured a poem read by Trump critic Springsteen, asking Americans to come together and find common ground.
“The environment has been a difficult place to be lately, between red and blue, between servant and citizen, between our freedom and our fear,” Springsteen said in a narration. “As for freedom, it is not the property of just the lucky few, it belongs to all of us, whoever you are, wherever you are from.”
Jeep owner Stellantis did not respond to a request for comment on Fox News’ Springsteen arrest, but a spokesman told Pitchfork:

“It would not be appropriate for us to comment on the details of a subject that we just read about and cannot verify. But it is also certain that we pause our Big Game commercial until the real facts can be established. His message of community and unity is as relevant always. As is the message that drinking and driving can never be tolerated. “
The commercial would have been the first Springsteen had ever done for a brand.
