CNN’s Brooke Baldwin announced on the air Tuesday that she will leave the network in April.
Baldwin, who joined CNN in 2008, made the announcement early at 3 pm, reflecting on his years of work on CNN and the support he received when he fell ill with Covid last year. Last October, she told viewers that she would be off the air until after the election and would be back on air in November.
“I am very grateful for your loyalty and passion for the world we cover and very grateful to my program team, you know who you are,” said Baldwin on Tuesday. “For Jeff Zucker, for my big CNN family and for you. For you. The next chapter of life will focus on what I love most about my job, expanding the lives of extraordinary Americans and putting my passion for storytelling to good use. “
She told viewers that “I need to do more outside this place, outside the walls of this place, a place that I have been privileged to call home for 13 years”.
“Yes, we are still in a pandemic,” said Baldwin, “and no, I do not have a job that I am joining immediately. And yes, yes, I am feeling very vulnerable. But what is this Brené Brown it says? Vulnerability is the cradle of innovation, creativity and change. And I am very excited about what is to come. “
