Brightline sets the potential 2023 completion date for Disney Springs Station at Walt Disney World

Brightline has set the potential timetable for the completion of its Disney Springs high-speed rail station, which was announced last month.

In its monthly travel report for November, Brightline said it wants to start revenue service on the connection during the second half of 2023. The schedule depends on “acquiring the right of way, licensing, final design and engineering”.

The end of 2023 would be about a year after the 170-mile expansion from West Palm Beach’s Brightline to Orlando International Airport is planned to be completed. According to company executives, the work is about 45% completed. Upon completion of the Disney Springs lease, Brightline would expand to Tampa.

Brightline did not reveal a location for the Disney Springs station, but said: “The Disney Springs station will provide a quick, convenient and enjoyable alternative to driving or flying on the millions of trips made by guests traveling between South Florida and Orlando to visit Walt Disney World Resort every year. As part of a future planned extension to Tampa, the Disney Springs station could also serve millions of annual Disney and Orlando visitors from the Tampa area. “

Disney Springs will be financed with a combination of capital, subsidies, subordinated bonds and up to $ 200 million of additional senior debt allowed. They expect the station to increase passenger numbers, revenue and EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization).

Jeff Vahle, President of Walt Disney World Resort, said: “We are excited to be working with Brightline as they pursue the potential development of a train station at Walt Disney World Resort, a project that would support our local economy and offer a transportation solution innovative for our community and guests. “
