‘Bridgerton’ season 2 cast: Shelley Conn joins the cast as Mary Sharma

A few days after the news that Bridgerton is losing Regé-Jean Page, the Netflix drama announced on Monday that it is gaining two more new cast members.

Shelley Conn (New land) and Calam Lynch (Mrs. Wilson) are joining the season 2 set. Conn is going to play Mary Sharma, daughter of an earl, whose marriage to a merchant once involved her family in a scandal. Lady Mary has now returned to London with her own daughters and is forced to endure the scrutiny of high society once again. She is the stepmother of Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey )’s new love interest, Kate Sharma, played by her colleague Bridgerton noob Sex educationit’s Simone Ashley.

Lynch, for his part, will play Theo Sharpe, an assistant printing worker who fights for everyone’s rights.

As previously reported, Charithra Chandran and Rupert Young are also embarking on Season 2, the former as Kate’s sister Edwina and the latter as a totally new character, unrelated to Julia Quinn’s books.

On Friday, Netflix confirmed that Page will not return as the Duke of Hastings in Season 2. The change was widely expected, considering that Season 2 will have a literal and figurative page from Quinn’s second book and will focus on Lord Anthony’s search for a bride.

In an interview with Variety, Page confirmed that his Bridgerton the commitment was for just one season. “One of the things that is different about this [romance] gender is that the public knows that the arc is complete, ”he said. “They arrive knowing that, so you can tie people up in emotional knots, because they have that assurance that we will go out and have the wedding and the baby.”
