“Bridgerton” officially joined names like “Little Women” and “Games of Thrones” with an apparent blunder on the screen that included a modern accessory.
As several Twitter users have pointed out, one of the first scenes from the first episode of the series, set in the 1800s, shows a horse-drawn carriage turning a corner on a cobblestone road with a yellow line painted on the opposite side. But these lines, which indicate parking restrictions, were not conceptualized in the UK until 1947, according to the British newspaper The Independent.
“Are you really enjoying Bridgerton, but with the technology available to filmmakers today, a yellow line?β A person tweeted.
“Two episodes of #Bridgerton and so far I have discovered a single yellow line and a telecommunications inspection cap”, added another. “I didn’t know that 19th century British were so pioneering …”
A third Twitter user claimed that they saw several Primark posters in a window in one scene. Primark, founded in 1969, is an Irish retail chain with over 100 stores in England, where “Bridgerton” was filmed.
The Regency-era romantic drama based on the Julia Quinn book series took off on Netflix after its December 25 debut. Netflix earlier this month that “Bridgerton” was set to become the platform’s fifth largest original series with a projected reach of more than 63 million families in four weeks.
Last week, the official show Twitter account confirmed that it will return to the streaming giant for a second season. Its creator, Chris Van Dusen, joined Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on TODAY on Thursday to discuss what fans can expect from the second season.
“We are going to start shooting later this spring in London, and we are all very excited,” Van Dusen told Hoda and Jenna. “I know the cast can’t wait to come back, and neither can I.”
He added that the next season will focus on Lord Anthony Bridgerton, the eldest in the titular Bridgerton family, and said the fans will be introduced to some new characters.
“I think it will be as breathtaking, moving and as beautiful as the first season viewers can expect from the show,” he said.
