New Orleans Pelicans striker Brandon Ingram revealed that during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, rumors of negotiations affected him and his other young teammates.
Ingram, who was negotiated with Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart in the transaction with Anthony Davis, explained how the rumors affected him and his teammates.
The 23-year-old said he tried to maintain the routine of staying at the gym while rumors circulated.
“I know other guys around me, it killed them every day,” said Ingram on the Old Man and the Three podcast. “When you wake up and see your name on Twitter, and the guys around me, they love Twitter. They love to search, put their names. “
Ingram said the rumors led to the energy in practice “totally off”.
Now, more than a year removed from the agreement, Ingram is thriving with the Pelicans. He joined the All-Star team last season and averaged 23.8 points per game. This season, he averages 26.7 points per game in the first three games in New Orleans.
The Lakers also got what they wanted with the deal. Los Angeles won the title with Davis last season.
While it certainly looks like a difficult environment for Ingram and his teammates, they seem to be better off since they were traded.
