After escaping from prison last year and hiding for months, a man in the UK was arrested after coming out of hiding to buy a copy of Call to action, only to be caught by the police in the process.
According West Midlands Police, Clint Butler, 36, a fugitive prisoner in Birmingham, ventured out on January 13 to buy a copy of Call Of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War. Butler was hiding from the police, as in November of last year he escaped from HMP Spring Hill prison, located in Buckinghamshire, where he was serving a 17-year sentence for crimes, including theft and firearm crimes.
When the local police spotted Butler and his friend, the pair changed direction to avoid the police. This caught the attention of the police, who asked Butler what he was doing during the pandemic-induced blockade. He replied, “I came to get the new Call to action because I can’t be locked in, ”reports West Midlands Police.
The officers then asked for some details, when Butler attacked one of the policemen. After being arrested, it was revealed that Butler had given the police a false name. He received a sentence of 13 months for the original escape and another six months for the fight with the police.
West Midlands Police Superintendent Nick Rowe seemed confused why Butler went out to buy the game, saying: “Why did he decide to risk being returned to prison by making the stupid decision to come to town during confinement with a friend to buying a video game will remain a bit of a mystery. “
