Boebert clashes with Capitol police after activating metal detectors

She added that she is allowed to load her weapons in Washington, DC, and the Capitol Complex.

A memo from acting weapons sergeant Timothy Blodgett explaining the new security measure also reminded members that they can only have weapons in their personal offices.

Several Republican members expressed their frustration with the new security deal. Representative Steve Stivers of Ohio told the Capitol Police that he believed that metal detectors are unconstitutional. Others tried to get around them.

Boebert has faced calls for resignation or expulsion because of his tweets on January 6, discussing his whereabouts and the movements of Mayor Nancy Pelosi, while Trump supporters violently stormed the Capitol building.

“I’m here to work for the American people, so I don’t have resignation in mind,” said Boebert.

When asked if she regretted her tweets, Boebert was silent and headed for the Chamber chambers and her meeting with the Capitol Police about metal detectors.
