The last match of SIE Studios
Teruyuki Toriyama has announced that he will leave Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan later this year. Speaking on Twitter earlier today, Toriyama thanked the fans for their support and noted that he intends to continue producing games in the future.
“I’m leaving SIE WWS JAPAN Studio at the end of December.” announced Toriyama. “To all users who have supported JAPAN Studio so far, thank you very much! I will continue to accept the challenge of creating new gaming IPs in my new company and I ask for your continued support.”
Toriyama’s impressive resume includes producer roles in the dark adventure of 2015 Bloodborne, and more recently Astro Bot and Demon’s Souls for PlayStation 5. Toriyama is one of several producers who said goodbye to SIE Japan, which also recently saw the departure of Gravity Rush designer Keiichiro Toyama, The Last Guardian producer Kazunobu Sato, and Mermaid the planner of the Junya Okura series, all of whom set out to found the new company Bokeh Game Studio.
