Former senior White House adviser Stephen Miller warned on Thursday that the Biden government is causing a “self-inflicted” public health crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border, after new policies have allowed potentially positive COVID migrants to enter the country.
“He took from the Border Patrol the basic tools they need to keep this country safe,” Miller said in an interview with “Fox & Friends”. “That’s why you are seeing what you are seeing.”
Miller was referring to a 152% increase in illegal border crossings, including 700 children at the border without parents or adult supervision.

Miller added that the implementation of a “tent city” on the border and reintegrated capture and release policies force migrant children to come in contact with human traffickers and drug smugglers.
The former White House adviser also said that under President Trump, minor immigrants were safely returned to their home countries with their families, instead of traveling and being detained in some of the “worst” [living] imaginable conditions. “
The Biden government announced this week that it opened a flexible assistance center for immigrants in Donna, Texas, while Republican lawmakers warned of a “growing crisis” on the border.
As previously reported by Fox News, the Department of Health and Human Services also plans to reactivate a temporary Influx Care Facility in Carrizo Springs, Texas, for the possible care of unaccompanied children held on the country’s southwestern border.

In a letter to the Biden government, Republican Party lawmakers called for a briefing and warned of the increase in illegal immigration, noting an increase in the average daily flow of immigrants last month and a steady increase in immigration since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. By law, the government is required to provide assistance to unaccompanied migrants under 18 who are without a guardian in the US
