2021 GOLDEN GLOBE PREDICTIONS:
BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOVING IMAGE

AWARDS COMMENT:
With the news that Stanley Tucci was removed from this category by HFPA and the men of “One Night in Miami” followed the support route after the Globes forced them to be together, this category could take on a very different form than it could finally end up happening with the Academy. For example, we could find Kingsley Ben-Adir joining his co-star Leslie Odom, Jr as a nominated colleague. HFPA has had problems in the past to build consensus around a large group (an example is the exclusion of all “Spotlight” actors). With Sacha Baron Cohen guaranteed a nomination (who knows a victory?) For “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”, will they pass it on in this space? In fact, how many double (even potential) candidates will HFPA have? Will they feel compelled to spread the love? February 3 will say.

About the Golden Globe

O Golden Globe Award, organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, has been held annually with 93 members since 1944. The group recognizes excellence in film and television, in drama and comedy or musical categories. “La La Land” by Damien Chazelle holds the record for most awards won for a single film with seven. Milos Forman’s “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and Alan Parker’s “Midnight Express” are next in line, with six each. Robert Altman’s “Nashville” has the record for most nominations received for a movie with 11, while Colin Higgins’s “Foul Play”, Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather Part III” and “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” Mike Nichols. share the record for receiving the most nominations and not winning a single prize at seven.
