Becca Kufrin reflects on the challenges after Garrett Yrigoyen’s separation

2020 brought its fair share of challenges, but former “Single” Becca Kufrin is grateful for the lessons she was taught.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Kufrin reflected on the year that changed his life, which included his separation from fiance Garrett Yrigoyen.

“2020. Dude, you gave me a run for my money, ”started the 30-year-old. “You challenged me in ways I never thought possible. You changed the trajectory of my life, took several people I loved and pushed me to the point of almost breaking. But I did not.

“And after all the hell that happened in 365 days, all I have to say is thanks,” she continued.

Kufrin said she is grateful for the difficulties she experienced, as she found “a certain strength that I never knew I had hidden within me”.

“Thanks for making me uncomfortable. Thank you for forcing difficult conversations, ”continued Kufrin. “Thank you for teaching the world to wash your damn hands. Thank you for making our country really stop and listen to our wounded brothers and sisters ”.

Kufrin also thanked 2020 for “breaking my heart and allowing me to put the pieces together in the strangest yet personalized way”.

“Thanks for being a cocoon that is slowly turning into a butterfly. You rocked me, but you couldn’t bring me down completely. And even with all the sadness, pain and uncertainty, it was the most memorable and important year that I lived in my 30s, ”she wrote.

In September, Kufrin confirmed on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast that she and Yrigoyen split up. Rumors of a split circulated for the first time during the summer.

“I don’t think it will be a shock to anyone, but Garrett and I decided to end our engagement,” said Kufrin at the time.

Kufrin, who became engaged to Yrigoyen in the 14th season of “The Bachelorette” in 2018, added on Friday that 2020 taught her “not to settle”.

“You taught me more compassion. You taught me how to overcome adversity. You taught me that there is much more than the bubble I have always lived in. You taught me to embrace zooms (business on top, party on the bottom). You taught me to find my voice and not give a damn to talk about what I support, ”wrote Kufrin.

“You taught me to listen. You taught me not to take a breath for granted. You taught me that there is still a lot of work to be done everywhere in this country and to help more and never stop. You taught me that it’s okay not to do and say everything perfectly, but to have the courage to learn and grow from my mistakes, ignorance and privilege, ”she continued.

Before leaving, Kufrin added that he is ready for a new year of opportunities.

“2020, it’s been a love / hate relationship and I’m grateful for everything you showed me, but now it’s time for us to go our separate ways. I’ll never forget our time together, but it’s not me, it’s you. Goodbye. 2021 LFG, ”she posted.
